Abstract: The transesterification process is a widely used industrial production process for production of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) from propylene carbonate and methanol,which produces propylene glycol in parallel.The process is simulated and key parameters are optimized by means of Aspen Plus process simulation software,UNIQUAC-RK thermodynamic model and transesterification kinetic model in literature.Final conversion of propylene carbonate reaches 98.56% after optimization,the mass fractions of DMC and propylene glycol are 99.7% and 99%,respectively.In order to reduce the energy consumption of the process,the heat of the process is integrated,which results in a 43.57% reduction of energy consumption compared to the original process.
