Abstract: The process routes using C3 fractions to synthesize methyl acrylate are introduced,with focus on the research advances in catalysts for the synthesis of methyl acrylate through aldol condensation between methyl acetate and formaldehyde.Moreover,it is pointed out that this process is expected to become the next generation mode for industrial production of methyl acrylate instead of present petroleum routes.Based on the present industrial production situation and the yield of gas-solid catalytic reaction,the future development of the catalyst for this route is prospected.
