Abstract: This paper reviews the mechanism, adsorption effects and renewability of metal-based nanomaterials, carbon-based nanomaterials, silica-based nanomaterials and chitosan, mesoporous, gel nanomaterials in water treatment, aiming to find a clean, efficient and economical way to purify the water polluted by heavy metals and to provide a reference for the practical application of nanomaterials.
