To address the challenges of fluctuating wind and solar power output and the difficulty in matching electrolytic hydrogen production with continuous ammonia synthesis under off-grid conditions,an off-grid wind-solar-hydrogen-ammonia system is constructed, comprising wind turbines, photovoltaics, electrolyzers, hydrogen storage tanks, batteries,an air separation unit for nitrogen production, and an ammonia synthesis unit.A mathematical model and an optimal scheduling model aimed at minimizing the total operating cost are established.Based on the data from the Zhundong region of Xinjiang, the system’s operating characteristics under typical conditions and the influence of key parameters on economic performance are analyzed. The results demonstrate that the system forms a coordinated scheduling mechanism characterized by fast regulation of electrolytic hydrogen production,cross-period buffering of hydrogen storage,short-term power smoothing by batteries, and relatively steady-state operation of ammonia synthesis. The minimum load rate of the electrolyzer, hydrogen storage capacity, and battery capacity all significantly affect the system’s economics.
