Toxic heavy metals pose a serious threat to the environment and human body.This review focuses on the research progress in recent years on the adsorption of heavy metal ions by bio-based hydrogels,discusses the adsorption mechanism and modification strategies of bio-based hydrogels,and analyzes the adsorption behavior in depth from the perspectives of adsorption kinetics,isotherms,thermodynamics and DFT calculation,and discusses the future challenges and development directions.
