The technical progress in separating ethylene glycol and 1,2-butanediol from their mixture by distillation method is reviewed.In the light of separating biomass chemical alcohols,several distillation separation processes are mainly introduced and summarized,such as common distillation,azeotropic distillation,reactive distillation,extractive distillation and their combination method.The technological characters,applying conditions and separation effects of these processes are discussed from the viewpoint of applications,which provides a basis for the determination and implementation of separation scheme under different conditions.
