To address the limitations of traditional Fenton systems in VOCs treatment, such as narrow pH applicability, low oxidant utilization efficiency, and significant iron sludge production, this study proposes a novel Fenton system coupling micro/nano-bubbles with H2O2.The objective is to enhance the oxidative capacity of the Fenton system and broaden its pH applicability. The toluene removal efficiencies of a single microbubble system, classic Fenton systems, and the proposed coupled system were compared. The effects of reaction parameters, including Fe2+ concentration,H2O2 dosage,pH,and gas flow rate, were investigated.Through electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) characterization and radical quenching experiments, the dominant role of hydroxyl radicals (·OH) in the coupled system was confirmed. The results demonstrate that the introduction of micro/nano-bubbles induces the generation of effective reactive species and effectively broadens the pH applicability of the classic Fenton system by utilizing the inherent characteristics of the bubbles, thereby maintaining efficient pollutant removal over a wide pH range. This indicates promising prospects for engineering applications. This study provides theoretical and technical support for the application of micro/nano-bubble synergistic advanced oxidation technologies in VOCs treatment.
