Pearlescent pigment is a kind of optical effect pigment,which is capable of producing multiple levels of reflection when it is shined by the sun.Pearlescent pigment has been widely used in decoration,automotive coatings,coatings & printing,cosmetics,plastics and food sectors.This paper reviews and analyzes world patent application about pearlescent pigment from the market scale of pearlescent pigment in recent years,changes in the number of patent applications,relevant patent classification numbers,important applicant,core patents and other aspects.The technological evolution route of pearlescent pigment is also introduced briefly.It provides a direction for the development of pearlescent pigments in China,and also provides ideas for China's manufacturers to apply for patent applications in this industry.
