Treatment of simulated 2,4-dinitrotoluene wastewater with river sediment ceramsite loaded Sn-Sb-TiO2 electrode

Abstract: Sn-Sb-TiO2 electrode loaded by river sediment ceramsite is prepared through sol-gel method and characterized by SEM and XRD.The performance of this electrode in electrocatalytic degradation of simulated 2,4-dinitrotoluene wastewater is investigated,and the corresponding reduction products and reduction mechanism are discussed preliminarily.The results show that there is a dense Sn-Sb-TiO2 metal oxide surface layer on the surface of the prepared electrode,which exhibits good electrocatalytic treatment effect on simulated 2,4-dinitrotoluene wastewater.The 2,4-dinitrotoluene removal rate can reach 94.31% when the initial concentration of 2,4-dinitrotoluene is 100 mg·L-1,the concentration of electrolyte Na2SO4 is 0.1 mg·L-1,the current density is 20 mA·cm-2,the aeration volume is 300 mL·min-1 and the treatment time is 120 min under neutral condition.Furthermore,the removal rate will keep more than 90% and the performance is not significantly reduced after the electrode is repeatedly used for ten times.By analyzing the concentration changes of the reduction products,it is found that 2-amino-4-nitrotoluene is the main reduction intermediate and 2,4-diaminotoluene is the final reduction product.
