Abstract: Passive samplers play an important role in many workplaces and have advantages of easy to carry,lightweight,easy to operate and no needing electricity or gathering power compared with active sampling.Passive samplers collect the concentration of gaseous pollutants over a period of time,known as the time-weighted average (TWA) concentration.Passive sampler is mainly used to monitor the pollutants in the atmosphere but has hardly been used in monitoring pollutants in the soil.This paper introduces mainly the research status,type principle and performance requirements of passive samplers at home and abroad,describes the types of adsorbents in passive samplers and their effect,and introduces the research situation using passive sampler to monitor VOCs in soil in recent years.Finally,the future prospects of passive samplers are prospected.
