Abstract: Thermal plasma technology is an emerging technology to treat industrial hazardous wastes.Chinese and foreign research institutes and organizations have performed a great deal of research works and achieved certain progresses.This paper introduces the concern concepts of plasma,and the advantages and process routes of thermal plasma technology.Particularly,it describes and analyzes in detail the applications of thermal plasma technology in the aspects of hazardous wastes treatment in the petrochemical and metallurgical industries,recovering noble metals from exhausted catalysts,recycle of chromium slag,soil repair and liquid wastes disposal.The thermal plasma technology has promising prospects in hazardous wastes treatment market because it can meet the increasingly stringent environmental requirements and compliance with sustainable development.However,higher efficiency and lower cost are needed for promoting thermal plasma technology into wider market.
