Green synthesis of FAB-La complex and its effect on SBR vulcanization

Abstract: FAB-La complex is synthesized by using butyl ester of fatty acid (FAB) and seven hydrate lanthanum chloride (LaCl3·7H2O) as raw materials and ethanol solution as solvent.The effects of reaction temperature,molar ratio of FAB to LaCl3 and pH on the yield of FAB-La complex are studied and the optimum synthesis conditions are confirmed.The promotion of the prepared FAB-La complex on the vulcanization of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) is also detected.The influences of FAB-La adding amount on the processing and using performances of rubber materials are discussed.The experimental result shows that the optimal synthesis conditions for FAB-La complex are as follows:reaction temperature of 150℃,pH of 7-8 and n(LaCl3):n(FAB)=1:1.1.The FTIR analysis shows that certain chemical reaction happens between FAB and LaCl3.It is also clear that the prepared FAB-La complex can significantly improve the vulcanization property and mechanical property of SBR.
