Abstract: Mg-Al-Zr composite oxides are synthesized by co-precipitation and calcinations methods.The sample is then characterized by SEM and XRD.The effects of adsorbent dose,adsorption time,pH value,initial fluorine concentration and coexisting anions (PO43-,SO42-,CO32-,NO3-) on the removal of fluorine by Mg-Al-Zr composite oxides are determined.The results show that the optimal conditions for removing fluorine are as follows:solution initial pH is in the range of 4-10,the mass concentration of Mg-Al-Zr composite oxide is 3 g·L-1,and the initial concentration of fluorine is 40 mg·L-1.The adsorption equilibrium time is about 300 minutes.The adsorption isotherm characters of Mg-Al-Zr composite oxide fits well the Langmuir models,and the maximum adsorption capacity of fluorine calculated by Langmuir model is as high as 48.90 mg·g-1.The effects of coexisting anions on removal of fluorine by adsorbent drop in the order of PO42- > CO32- > SO42- > NO3-.After three recycle of adsorption-desorption,this adsorbent can still achieve more than 70% of removal rate for fluorine.
